Proposal Development

If you have come to this page, it is likely because you have questions about proposal development. One question may be…What is ‘proposal development’ anyway – what does it mean or entail? In one respect, it has to do with writing a grant. But it means much more than that.

Office of Research and Faculty Development staff provide guidance and support as you develop externally funded research and academic projects. Not only can we review and critique a proposal you have written, in addition, through one-on-one guidance and workshops, we can help you improve your overall proposal development and grant writing skills. Contact us if you need help with any of the following:

  • clarifying your research goals and objectives,
  • developing a (multi-year) research plan,
  • searching for funding for your research and academic projects,
  • interpreting funding agency guidelines (e.g., governmental, foundations, etc.),
  • writing or editing a grant,
  • identifying possibilities for collaboration (at UO, in the State, and beyond).

There is more to writing a grant than first meets the eye. The process does not, however, have to be overwhelming. We are here to help you acquire and hone the skills you need to successfully compete in today’s competitive environment.
