2009: Connections with Communities and Society - Journalism, Education and AAA Professional Programs

The Office of the Vice President for Research is pleased to announce that the application deadline for the fourth annual Oregon Credit Community Union Research Fellowships will be Monday, March 16, 2009. An informational drop-in session will be held on February 4, 2009, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., in EMU Century Room E, and faculty who are interested in the program are encouraged to attend if they have questions about the application and award process.

Initiated in 2006, the Oregon Community Credit Union Research Fellowships are made possible by the generous support of the Oregon Community Credit Union and the Office of the Vice President for Research. It funds three annual awards of $10,000 each. Oregon Community Credit Union provides $5,300 of each award, and the Office of the Vice President for Research provides the remaining $4,700. The award recipients will be announced in April 2009, and funding will begin at the start of fall term 2009.

The program is a cyclical process that endeavors over a five year period to cover all research areas. Each year is tailored to fit most closely with the research and scholarly activities of the focus topic. In 2009, the program will welcome applications to support Connections with Communities and Society in the schools of Journalism, Education and AAA Professional Programs (excluding fine and performing arts that were included previously).

Designed to support non-curricular activities, the program focuses on faculty research and scholarly activities. Tenure-track and tenured faculty are eligible who hold an appointment of 0.5 FTE and are in their second year or longer of employment at the UO. Additionally, career non-tenure track faculty (NTTF) in their second year or longer of employment at the UO with an appointment of at least 0.6 annualized FTE are welcome to apply. Applications to support interdisciplinary or collaborative research are encouraged.

Read the proposal guidelines link below for complete information on eligibility, application materials, notes on the preparation of the application, review and award criteria and the award terms. Applications that do not conform to the guidelines will not be reviewed.
