PROGRAM GUIDELINES
OBJECTIVE:
The Office of Research & Faculty Development supports faculty in their efforts to secure external support for their research and other academic activities. As part of this endeavor, RFD offers a workshop in the development of research proposals.
ELIGIBILITY:
• All tenured or tenure-track UO faculty, with an appointment of .50 FTE or more, officers of research of .50 FTE, and non tenure-track faculty with an appointment of .50 FTE are eligible to apply for the workshop.
• Applicants must hold a UO appointment during the regular academic year of the award, 2009-2010.
• To be considered for the program, applicants must identify at least one potential funding source and provide a statement of the proposed research project and its significance.
• Applicants must be a principal investigator (PI) on the proposal they plan to submit. If the proposal is a collaboration, the applicant must be at least a co-investigator.
• Participants must submit the proposal at least two (2) weeks after completion of workshop attended and no later than May 17, 2010.
• Faculty may not participate in the workshop in consecutive years.
MATERIALS TO SUBMIT:
Those interested in the workshop must complete and submit the application form. No attachments (e.g., CV, bibliographies, etc.) are required. On the application, you will be asked to name a potential funder for your research project and to write a brief statement outlining your research idea and its significance. While your research idea may not be completely formed, workshop organizers must confirm that you have contemplated your project thoroughly enough to be able to construct a research proposal.
AWARD:
Faculty who participate in the two day workshop and submit a proposal through the Office of Research Services and Administration's (ORSA) Electronic Proposal Clearance System (EPCS) to an external funding agency by May 17, 2010, will receive $1000 in the form of research support (i.e. supplies, services, and/or travel), or summer salary. NO Other Payroll Expenses (OPE) will be covered in addition to the award for those who choose summer salary.
Letters of intent are not sufficient to receive the award. No extensions will be granted.
